COLOR TRENDING 2016

After attending the Maison de Objet trade show in Paris recently, I want to share another aspect of the latest color trends coming our way. A large amount of paint color forecasting comes from various industries – fashion, technology, environment and even “brain foods”. We experience a lot of color, based on sustainability of the environment. Top designers from the Maison de Objet exhibit were presenting pallets in an array of shades of green: Apple, Chartreuse, Emerald, Pistachio, Bottle or Anise. These colors were present across the board in textiles, wood, glass and leather.

When beginning a color palette for any room in a home or office, I have found that keeping background colors i.e. walls, ceiling and trim in a neutral palette works best. Adding in decorative accent colors, in window treatments, fabrics and furniture will add balance and a calming effect to your overall color scheme. Whichever room you’re working on, it’s important to take into consideration the natural light.

In our hectic lives and chaotic schedules it is refreshing to create an environment for relaxation, quiet moments and tranquility. Your exterior view colors should have a complimentary balance with your interior palette. Take into consideration an overview of the colors and textures that are right outside your windows. We are inspired by our environment! This enhances our world and influences our state of mind.

I have included a few color selections from Pratt & Lambert Paints to help you get started on your color choices.

For those of you seeking a more unexpected pallet and adventure in a room, look forward to our next article.
